Making Children Feel 10 Feet Tall Since 2010

We believe that all children have extraordinary capacity for creativity. Our ethos is to inspire and develop that creativity by delivering drama workshops which embrace and celebrate each child's brilliance to make them feel 10ft tall.

Classes

Laughter, learn, perform...

We provide after school classes for 5 to 12 year olds in various schools and venues in East Lothian.

Our sessions last for 60 minutes and provide students with a fun, exciting and safe environment in which to explore the many elements of drama.

During our workshops we play energetic drama games and work on a variety of performance skills such as movement, mime, storytelling and improvisation.

The Drama Mill concentrates on creative drama allowing students to lead and improvise their own stories to create unique fun and entertaining performances.

The Drama Mill is looking for volunteer assistants for our weekly after school drama workshops. The volunteers will help the tutors in the delivery of the weekly workshops.

As a volunteer we would ask you to sign up for a term, you would then work once a week with the tutor throughout this time, developing skills as necessary.

We are able to pay travel expenses and as the role requires a PVG we would arrange this for you.

We are looking for individuals who are keen to gain work experience with children and young people in a drama workshop setting.

If this is something that you would like to be considered for, please email info@thedramamill.com telling us about yourself and why you are interested in the role.

Nurseries

Make, believe and shine...

Pre-school children have an exceptional talent for make believe, which is the perfect ingredient for a fun and creative drama session.

The Drama Mill has developed a successful program of workshops for preschool children in over 20 nurseries in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

Our workshops deliver on all aspects of the curriculum for excellence and our teacher in role approach captures children's imagination and helps to ensure the students ownership of  all our activities.

If you are a Nursery Manager interested in booking a block of classes then please get in touch. All we need is a room or outside space and we will take care of the admin and the set up.

Parties

Fun, organised chaos...

Are you stressed out organising your child’s birthday party?

Tired of blowing up a hundred balloons or putting 30 layers on pass the parcel? If the answer is yes then why not leave the hard work to us…

The Drama Mill can provide a fun filled party for your child’s special day.

During the session the child will go on an imaginative journey on a theme of their choice, play energetic drama games and finish the session with dancing and more games.

Holiday weeks

Fun, fun, fun...

The Drama Mill provides fun activity weeks in the school holidays. During these weeks children will be able to get involved in creating their own stories, sing, dance, do arts and crafts and play lots of games.

All our holiday venues have outside spaces and we try to spend as much time as we can (weather permitting) outside.

We have four weeks scheduled for the summer. Our camps are very popular so please book ASAP to guarantee your child’s place.

THE Mill Youth Theatre

The next level…

The Mill Youth Theatre provides weekly sessions for young people aged 12 – 18 in North Berwick and Haddington.

Our workshops offer young people the opportunity to create and take part in new and exciting theatrical experiences.

As well as devising original theatre, we also take part in youth theatre festivals and competitions, providing our students the opportunity to perform in professional

theatres and be part of a larger theatrical community.

At our sessions students learn to develop their stagecraft and in addition to our regular experienced tutors we invite guest practitioners to teach master classes in various disciplines.

We also run performance projects in the school holidays, these are often site based, and provide students the opportunity to further develop their performance skills whilst making new friends.
